A shiur on some of the halachic and midrashic aspects of Pesach and the seder as revealed by an examination of selected images from illustrated medieval haggadot. The shiur will also offer suggestions for how to incorporate visual material into your seder.

Meet the speaker

Dr. Adam S. Cohen

Dr. Adam S. Cohen teaches in the Department of the History of Art at the University of Toronto, where he has also served as assistant director of the university’s Centre for Jewish Studies and introduced courses on Jewish art. He is the author of numerous articles and books, including Signs and Wonders: 100 Haggada Masterpieces (2018). Adam lives in Toronto, with his wife, Linda, and is president of the historic Kiever Synagogue in downtown Toronto.
