Scholar in Residence: Rabbi Zvi Grumet

Join us as the Or Chaim Minyan and Shaarei Shomayim Congregation welcome another distinguished Scholar in Residence for Shabbat! Rabbi Zvi Grumet is a master teacher, creative educational thinker, and innovative Tanakh scholar whose teaching over the past three decades has inspired students and communities in the US and Israel and throughout the English-speaking world. He engages his listeners in a close reading of the Biblical text, bringing its characters alive and bringing out the compelling nature of the Biblical message.

Rabbi Grumet earned his Rabbinic ordination and Ed.D. at Yeshiva University. He dedicated the first eighteen years of his career to teaching Torah and leading educational institutions in the US. Rabbi Grumet currently teaches at Yeshivat Eretz Hatzvi and other university level programs in Israel. He is a senior staff member at The Lookstein Center for Jewish Education, where he is editor of Jewish Educational Leadership and generates initiatives to help advance Jewish education on four continents. Rabbi Grumet’s books include Moses and the Path to Leadership (Urim, 2014) and his forthcoming From Creation to Covenant (Toby, 2017).

Rabbi Zvi Grumet

Rabbi Zvi Grumet is a master educator and teacher of Tanakh. Prior to making Aliyah, Rabbi Dr. Grumet spent two decades teaching teens in the US. In Israel he taught for many years at Machon Pardes and chaired the Tanakh Department at Yeshivat Eretz Hatzvi. He is currently Director of Education at The Lookstein Center of Bar-Ilan University. Zvi teaches Tanakh throughout the English-speaking world, leads professional development for teachers, and has published numerous articles in both education and Tanakh.
