Join Rabbi Kelman on “Selichot Opening Night," Saturday, September 16 at 11:00 pm (selichot at midnight) and 20 minutes before ma'ariv and selichot  (9:10 pm) every other night as we discuss the origin, meaning and literary techniques of these beautiful, yet rarely understood piyutim.

 

Meet the speaker

Rabbi Jay Kelman

Rabbi Jay Kelman is founder and director of Torah in Motion. In addition to his leadership role at TiM, Rabbi Kelman teaches Halacha and Rabbinics at the Tanenbaum Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto. He received a BSc in accounting from Yeshiva University and Smicha from its affiliate, Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary and served as a pulpit rabbi in Toronto for 15 years. During that time he was a recipient of the Award for Rabbinic Leadership from the Jewish Federation
